Comprehensive Psychological Testing in Philadelphia, PA
One evaluation that gives you the whole picture.
Comprehensive testing & evaluations for kids (8+), teens, and adults when multiple questions need answering at once. Insurance submitted on your behalf, payment plans available, in Philadelphia and online across Pennsylvania.

"We keep getting answers that don't add up."
One provider says it’s anxiety. Another floats bipolar II. A third mentions ADHD in passing and moves on. You’ve collected diagnoses the way other people collect parking tickets, but none of them explain the whole thing.
Treatment helps a little, then stalls. Something keeps not adding up. Or maybe it’s your kid. The school flags one thing, the pediatrician flags another, and you’re left holding a stack of observations that don’t connect. You can see them struggling across more than one area, and nobody has looked at everything together, at the same time, with the same set of eyes.
You’ve probably been told you’re “high-functioning,” which usually arrives right before your concerns get waved off. You’ve had an evaluation before that felt like it skimmed the surface. You’re cautiously hopeful and a little braced for another incomplete answer.
At Daisy + Co. Therapy® in Philadelphia, PA, comprehensive psychological testing is built for this: the complicated, layered, "it's probably more than one thing" situations that a single screening was never going to untangle. One evaluation, customized to your questions, that looks at the whole person and gives you a report you can act on.

Why Choose A Comprehensive Evaluation?
Comprehensive psychological testing is different from a screening, a single-condition assessment, or a diagnosis made across a conversation. Instead of testing for one thing and hoping it’s the right thing, a comprehensive evaluation is a customized battery of measures chosen for your specific questions. It can look at attention, learning, cognitive functioning, emotional health, autism, and the neurodevelopmental patterns that so often travel together, all in one coordinated process.
At Daisy + Co. Therapy®, our psychological testing in Philadelphia gives you:
- Clarity. A complete, documented picture of what's driving the struggle, particularly when previous answers were partial, conflicting, or dismissed.
- Language. Words backed by measurable data that you can use to advocate for yourself or your child with schools, employers, prescribers, and future providers.
- Direction. Personalized recommendations for treatment, accommodations, school supports, and the daily systems that fit the person in front of us.
- A report you can read. We write findings in plain language, with a strengths-based summary alongside the diagnostic conclusions, so you can use the report instead of filing it away.
This is the evaluation for the kids and adults who are struggling in more than one area of life and have never had someone look at all of it together.

Who We Test
Comprehensive Testing for Adults
The person who's been passed between providers, collected a few diagnoses that never quite fit, and suspects something was missed. Adult testing and evaluations clarify what's happening across the whole picture, so you can stop questioning yourself, make more informed decisions about treatment, and finally get every provider on the same page. Many adults pair an evaluation with adult therapy afterward.
Comprehensive Testing for Teens
Adolescence stacks academic pressure, social complexity, identity questions, and mental health all on top of each other, and it's rarely just one of those things. Testing gives teens (and the adults around them) a clearer map for school accommodations, treatment, and teen therapy that fits how their brain works.
Comprehensive Testing for Kids (Ages 8+)
We test kids ages 8 and up. When the school flags one concern and the pediatrician flags another, a comprehensive evaluation looks at learning, attention, cognitive, social, and emotional functioning together, and creates the formal documentation schools often require for accommodations and services. Kids needing ongoing support can also access therapy for kids in Philadelphia.

What Comprehensive Testing Can Help You Understand
A comprehensive evaluation doesn’t stop at “is it this one thing.” It answers the harder questions:
When one provider says anxiety and another says bipolar II, testing produces measurable data across multiple areas of functioning instead of another opinion. That helps clarify what’s primary, what’s co-occurring, and what may have been named incorrectly along the way.
For a kid, the shutdowns, meltdowns, and avoidance usually have a driver, and it’s often more than one. Testing helps identify what’s underneath, so you can get the support you need in the exact areas you need it.
A full evaluation maps cognitive strengths, learning patterns, and processing style. That matters for choosing treatment, study supports, careers, and environments that fit how the brain works.
When a known diagnosis has a treatment plan that isn’t shifting things, a comprehensive picture often explains why, particularly when a co-occurring condition was never evaluated.

Fees & Insurance for Comprehensive Testing
Testing shouldn’t come with hidden costs or surprise bills. Here’s how we structure pricing and insurance for comprehensive psychological testing, so you can make an informed decision before you commit.
What it costs
Comprehensive testing has two parts: a pre-assessment intake and the testing itself.
- Pre-assessment intake: $250.
This is a 60 to 90-minute appointment where your evaluator reviews your history, concerns, and goals and determines whether testing is recommended and which measures fit your questions.
- Testing: $4,500 to $5,500.
Because the battery is built around your specific questions, the fee depends on what’s clinically recommended for you. You’ll know your exact number before any testing begins, so nothing about the cost is a surprise.
Insurance
Some plans cover part or all of psychological assessment, and some cover none of it. Coverage depends on your specific plan, not just the insurance company. Daisy + Co. accepts all major insurance plans for assessment services and will submit claims on your behalf to see what, if anything, your plan will put toward the cost. We’re one of the few practices in PA that does this for assessments.
Before your pre-assessment intake is scheduled, we verify your benefits so you have a clear picture of what to expect. Any balance your plan doesn’t cover is ultimately your responsibility, and we offer payment plans to keep it manageable.
We currently accept:
- Aetna
- Highmark
- IBX
- Quest
- Geisinger
- Optum
- Oscar
Payment Options
We offer flexible payment options, including paying in full or spreading your balance across scheduled payments, plus financing through a third-party partner. Our admin team walks you through your options once testing is recommended.

Comprehensive Testing FAQs
How long does a comprehensive psychological evaluation take?
It depends on the complexity of your situation and the number of measures in your battery. Most comprehensive evaluations involve two or more testing sessions plus a feedback appointment. Each measure takes time to administer properly, and once testing is done, your evaluator spends significant time scoring, integrating findings across every measure, and writing a detailed report that reflects the full picture. From initial inquiry to feedback session, the process typically takes six weeks or more. You’ll get a clearer timeline after your pre-assessment intake.
How is psychological testing different from a screening or a psychiatrist's diagnosis?
Screenings and online tools can flag potential concerns, but they can’t diagnose or document anything formally. A psychiatrist diagnoses based on conversation and symptom review, which can be useful, but it doesn’t include the hands-on testing that produces concrete, measurable data across multiple areas of functioning. A comprehensive psychological evaluation goes deeper, using a full battery of measures administered by a trained clinician to build a complete picture of how you or your child thinks, learns, processes, and functions. The result is a detailed written report that holds up with schools, employers, disability offices, and treatment providers in a way a diagnosis alone often doesn’t.
How long until we receive the comprehensive evaluation report?
For private-pay clients, reports are typically completed within three to four weeks of your final testing session. For clients using insurance, timelines may run longer because of claim-processing delays on the insurance plan’s end. More complex evaluations can also take additional time. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.
Most IQ testing is completed across 2 to 3 appointments, including an intake, the testing session, and a feedback meeting where we review your results together. Occasionally additional testing sessions are needed to fully answer your questions, and your evaluator will let you know if that’s the case. We’ll give you a clear timeline for your written report at your intake, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
What happens after we receive the report?
A feedback session is included to walk you through the findings, answer your questions, and help you make sense of the recommendations. From there, we can help connect you with treatment, support services, or the documentation you need for school or work.
What if my child or I have had psychological testing done before?
Prior testing is helpful context, and we’ll want to review it. Depending on how recent it was and what it covered, some measures may need to be readministered and others may not. We’ll sort that out during the pre-assessment intake.
How much does comprehensive psychological testing cost in Philadelphia?
Comprehensive testing at Daisy + Co. involves a pre-assessment intake fee of $250, plus a testing fee of $4,500 to $5,500 depending on what’s clinically recommended for your battery. Because the battery is customized to your questions, your exact fee is confirmed before testing begins, so there are no surprises. We’ll also talk through insurance, payment plans, and financing during the process.
Sometimes. Coverage for IQ testing depends on your specific insurance plan, not just the insurance company, and it’s genuinely hit or miss. We won’t pretend otherwise. When your plan covers psychological testing and allows pre-authorization, we may be able to bill your insurance directly, though this route takes longer to set up and can limit which testing can be included. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill so you can seek reimbursement from your plan. Either way, our team verifies your benefits and talks through your options before you commit. For more on fees and insurance generally, see our FAQs.
Is comprehensive testing covered by insurance in Philadelphia?
Sometimes. Coverage depends on your specific insurance plan, not just the insurance company. Comprehensive testing tied to a diagnostic question or treatment planning is more often covered than testing for general self-understanding, but coverage is still inconsistent. We offer two routes to help:
- Pre-authorization billing. If your plan covers psychological testing and you can secure a pre-authorization, we may be able to bill insurance directly. This route takes longer to set up and can come with limitations on what testing we can include, but it works for many clients who are willing to navigate those parameters.
- Retroactive partial reimbursement. If you’d like to seek reimbursement for the portion your plan covers, we’ll submit claims to your insurance on your behalf after testing. We don’t know of another mental health practice in the Philadelphia area offering this, and we built it specifically because the standard “here’s a superbill, good luck” approach fails most people.
Our team is happy to verify benefits and talk through your options before you commit. For more on fees and insurance generally, see our FAQs.
Do I need a referral for psychological testing in Philadelphia?
Who is comprehensive psychological testing right for?
It’s a good fit for kids, teens, or adults who are struggling behaviorally, academically, professionally, or relationally and aren’t sure why. If something feels off with yourself or your child but you can’t quite name it, comprehensive testing can bring clarity around whether a mental health diagnosis, learning disability, or neurodevelopmental difference may be part of the picture.
It’s also the right fit for more complex situations where multiple concerns are in play, where previous evaluations or treatment haven’t fully explained things, or where a detailed report is needed for school accommodations, workplace documentation, or treatment planning. In most cases, you won’t need a working diagnosis or a referral to get started.
Can accommodations be made during testing?
Yes. We work with you ahead of time to understand any specific needs you or your child may have, and we’ll do our best to incorporate reasonable accommodations throughout the process. That may include extended breaks, flexible session pacing, sensory considerations, or other adjustments based on what’s clinically appropriate. Some requests may not be possible if they would compromise the validity of the results or fall outside the scope of what our practice can provide.

Life After Your Evaluation: The Doable Edition
Getting a complete picture, sometimes after years of partial ones, can feel like finally setting down something heavy you didn’t know you were carrying. For some people, the relief is immediate. For others, it lands later, when they catch themselves making a decision from a place of clarity instead of guesswork.
As you move forward after testing, you may notice shifts like:
- A clear, documented picture of what's going on, after years of partial answers or conflicting opinions.
- Less self-questioning, because the evaluation confirms what you've been experiencing or noticing in your child.
- The documentation you need for a 504 plan, an IEP, university disability services, or workplace accommodations.
- More informed decisions about treatment and daily life, once you know what's driving the struggle and what else is going on alongside it.
- Providers on the same page, with one shared picture for every therapist, psychiatrist, teacher, and specialist involved.
- Fewer wrong turns, because the evaluation clarifies why past treatment wasn't fitting and points toward what will.
- For parents, a new way of seeing your child, where understanding what's underneath the behavior makes it easier to respond with support instead of frustration.
Comprehensive testing doesn't hand you a label to carry. It hands you an accurate map, so the next steps are ones that actually fit.
